20 years of experience in the industry

About us

Our core competence is in machining and prototype development. We have solid and long experience in machining parts in materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, inconel, titanium, duplex, as well as castings and plastic materials such as pom and peek.

Our history

2001

We are three friends who, with great enthusiasm, founded MPM in October 2001.

2003

The workshop's capacity has been maximized. Production is in full swing.

2007

Large investments are made in the machine park.

2008

Last year's investments turn out not to be so lucky after all, as the financial crisis hits the global economy.

2011

Glass railings will be part of the initiative under the EdelStaal brand name.

2016

Glass railings are the main focus. There is less machining than in previous years. Milling machines and lathes are being sold to make room.

2017

June 2017 Frekhaug Maskinering AS is established in connection with the acquisition of NIS

2019

In the fall of 2019, it was decided to merge MPM with Frekhaug Maskinering AS. Bård became general manager.

2020

EdelStaal being transferred to Soltek AS and, as a result, is no longer included in our product range.

2025

Befriends Mazak, and invests in two new machines.

From the archive

The early years

Modell Prototyping Maskinering AS (MPM) existed until 2017, before it was decided to make a change of uniform. At that time, the profile was black and red. Bård pictured, year 2003.

Our staff

Few resources. With only three employees, comes a lot of responsibility. A short break in production gives room to handle delivery of goods.

Different times

A bit ambitious, Bård takes a course in computer programming and 3D drawing. Today, the tasks are delegated to someone else in the house.

Expanding

Acquisition of the adjacent building and expansion of the machinery. Shown here is a typical day in production, autumn 2014.

Committing to new ventures

By 2016, a significant portion of the facilities was allocated to glass railing production, with reduced focus on machining and increased emphasis on developing the EdelStaal brand.

The acquisition of N.I.S

Frekhaug Maskinering AS (FREMAS) is established. New machines, customers, and employees are brought in. Soltek AS assumes responsibility over the production of glass railings. The premises are restored, and machining once again becomes the primary focus.

Investments are made

Significant investments are undertaken. In the spring of 2025, we take delivery of our first machine from the Japanese manufacturer Mazak Corporation. The long-serving LB15, part of our operations since inception, is phased out to enable further investment. As a result, we now offer more advanced machining capabilities, with production efficiency at an all-time high.

Where we are today

We are highly skilled in the CNC field, and can offer, among other things:

  • Machining, welding / construction

  • Production of prototypes

  • Models for the mechanical industry

  • Production and assembly of tools for the mechanical industry

  • Industrial tools according to the customer's needs and wishes

  • Consulting services within 3D drawings
